Brazilian Butt Lift Q & A

What is a Brazilian butt lift?

A Brazilian butt lift is a surgical procedure that enhances the shape of your butt with your own fat. It’s also referred to as a buttock augmentation with fat grafting or gluteal enhancement.

To give you the desired look, Dr. Burton first liposuctions fat from one area of your body, usually your abdomen, back or thighs. He then takes that fat and injects it into the right areas of your butt to make it larger and firmer, while also giving your butt a lift.

The Brazilian butt lift is one of the most popular cosmetic procedures because it not only enhances the shape of your backside, but also improves the shape of your waist and thighs.

Who is a good candidate for a Brazilian butt lift?

Dr. Burton determines if you’re a good candidate for the Brazilian butt lift after an examination and consultation. He takes the time to get to know you and your desires to ensure you get the results you want.

A good candidate for a Brazilian butt lift should be:

  • Realistic about their expectations
  • In good health
  • Nonsmoker
  • Committed to maintaining a healthy diet and exercise plan to maintain results

What can I expect during a Brazilian butt lift?

During the procedure, Dr. Burton first liposuctions the fat from your abdomen, thighs, or back to use in your butt. He then injects the fat into precise areas in your butt to give you the desired shape.

For your comfort, Dr. Burton performs the Brazilian butt lift under anesthesia, which can take up to two hours to complete. Due to the extent of the surgery, you may need to take at least a week off of work following the procedure to recover. Dr. Burton also suggests enlisting the help of a friend or family member during this part of the recovery phase.

You’ll notice an improvement in your shape immediately following the procedure.

What happens after a Brazilian butt lift?

Dr. Burton recommends no sitting for the first two weeks after the procedure, and limited sitting for the next two and a half months afterwards. Sitting for too long may damage the transferred fat and decrease the effectiveness of the procedure.

After the intial two-week healing period, Dr. Burton may prescribe a special cushion for you to use when seated. He also recommends you sleep on your stomach during this time.

While you may notice an improvement in your shape immediately, the final results of the procedure may take three to six months for you to completely heal from the Brazilian butt lift.
